Tin Can PhoneThe tin can phone is a time honored way to communicate that has delighted children over the years. This is a great activity to do with your child. They will love talking to you or a friend or sibling. Items Needed:
Open the cans with a can opener that removes the lid and not the bottom edge. Wash and dry throughly. Be especially careful not to cut yourself of the edges of the can. Use the hammer and nail to make a small hole in the center of the two cans. Cut a long piece of string. Push the string through the hole in the can and tie a double knot on the end that will go inside of each can big enough so that it won't slip through the hole. To use the new phone, make sure the string is held taunt. One person talks into one can while the other listens. Then repeat these steps with the other person. The first one listens while the second one talks. You can even be in different rooms just as long as the string is straight and taunt. If you don't want to do it with tin cans, it will also work with paper cups. Remember"You're Never Too Old to Play"Bookmark this Page so you can find it again, or sign up for our RSS feed.
